BatchPhoto 5.1 adds lossless formats & new UI

Thu, 22nd Jan 2026

Bits&Coffee has released BatchPhoto 5.1, introducing interface updates, broader support for lossless image formats, and refinements to file handling for upload workflows.

The release coincides with BatchPhoto's 20th year on the market. Available for Windows and macOS, the software is designed for users who regularly process large volumes of images using repeatable batch workflows.

BatchPhoto applies a defined set of edits across multiple files in a single operation, allowing saved workflows to be reused for recurring processing tasks.

Version 5.1 introduces a light theme alongside the existing dark interface. Users can manually select a preferred appearance or allow the app to follow the operating system's light and dark mode settings.

Toolbar icons have also been redesigned, with the update focused on improving visual clarity and everyday usability.

The release extends support for lossless image formats, adding WEBP, HEIF and AVIF. Users can now generate lossless outputs in these formats, preserving image quality while using modern compression options increasingly common across web and mobile platforms.

Support for multi-page WEBP files has also been added, providing additional flexibility for archiving and delivery workflows.

BatchPhoto includes FTP and SFTP upload options in its production pipeline. With version 5.1, users can retain the original image format when uploading files via these methods, rather than converting formats during transfer.

The update also adds control over output file extensions, allowing users to choose naming conventions such as JPG or JPEG.

BatchPhoto is positioned as a tool for reducing repetitive manual editing when working with large image sets. It supports conversion to and from more than 200 image formats, along with batch resizing, renaming and format conversion.

Additional features include colour adjustments, filters and effects, watermarking, text overlays, and the ability to add date and time information to images.

The software is used across photography, commercial content production and web publishing workflows. Common users include eCommerce businesses, marketing teams and media organisations.

In online retail, batch processing is typically used to prepare product images in consistent sizes and formats across marketplaces and brand websites. Photography workflows often focus on resizing and watermarking large client deliveries, while web publishing use cases centre on optimising images for faster loading and consistent presentation.

Automation remains central to the platform. Users can build a processing sequence once and apply it repeatedly to new image folders.

Built-in FTP and SFTP delivery options support direct transfer of processed files to servers as part of routine production work, with the new format-retention setting adding an extra layer of control.

BatchPhoto 5.1 is available now for Windows and macOS. Existing users can update to the latest version, while new users can access a trial or purchase a licence through the BatchPhoto website.

The release maintains the stability and automation features associated with long-term use of the software, alongside the new interface and format enhancements.
