Sessions ranked 14th in UK’s fastest-growing tech list
Sessions has ranked 14th in The Sunday Times 100 Tech list of Britain's fastest-growing private technology companies, after posting a compound annual growth rate of 177.04%.
The company operates in the restaurant delivery market and positions itself as a distribution platform for food brands. Sessions launched in 2020 and Dan Warne founded the business after working at Deliveroo.
The Sunday Times list ranks private UK-headquartered technology companies based on growth over a three-year period. Its entry criteria include a minimum latest-year sales figure above GBP £5 million and below GBP £250 million, plus four years of accounts and disclosure on whether the latest year produced a profit or loss.
Delivery footprint
Sessions works with food brands and a network of delivery kitchens. The company said it works with more than 400 delivery kitchen partners. It also said it has delivered more than 5 million orders across its digital and physical portfolio.
The company's portfolio includes SoBe Burger, Ivan Ramen and Little Bao Boy. Sessions also said it has partnered with Netflix to create food brands linked to shows including Squid Game and Stranger Things.
Sessions described itself as a challenger in restaurant delivery. The company said it focuses on brand development, technology and franchising.
Product systems
Sessions said it uses an AI-driven insights engine called Agatha. The company said it uses the system to track consumer and menu trends.
Sessions also uses a product called Serve. The company described Serve as an operating system. Sessions said Serve brings orders, menus, stock and staff into one platform.
The company framed its approach as a route for restaurant brands to grow beyond a single site. It said delivery platforms and technology change how restaurants can reach customers.
Founder background
Warne previously worked at Deliveroo and held the role of Managing Director. Sessions said Warne helped build the company during a period when it expanded from a 12-person business.
Sessions also pointed to other growth rankings. The company said it ranked 31st in Sifted's list of the 100 fastest-growing startups in the UK and Ireland by revenue growth. It also said it placed 77th in the Sifted 250 list of Europe's fastest-growing startups and ranked 10th among consumer brands in that list.
Industry shift
Sessions said the hospitality sector faces pressure and change. It said restaurants need to reconsider operating models as costs rise and demand shifts.
"Just as streaming transformed music and film, and eCommerce reshaped retail, the restaurant industry must embrace the scale enabled by the internet. Our distribution model begins to decouple the power of a restaurant brand from a single physical location. Doing so has the potential to fundamentally reset industry economics at a time of need. At Sessions, we're proud to be recognised as a technology platform enabling that shift - helping independent food businesses transcend the physical site, while giving customers greater access to high-quality food, wherever they choose to enjoy it'," said Dan Warne, Founder and CEO, Sessions.
Sessions said its growth reflects increased use of technology in hospitality operations and delivery. The company said it plans to continue launching and scaling food brands through its kitchen partner network.
