Adobe set to revolutionise video production with new AI tools
Tue, 16th Apr 2024

Adobe is all set to bring about a revolution in video creation and production workflows with groundbreaking generative AI innovations within Adobe Premiere Pro. The new tools promise exciting creative opportunities for each professional editor vying to keep up with video production's rapid pace. The forthcoming generative AI tools within Premiere Pro will enable users to streamline the editing of all videos, facilitating the addition or removal of objects in a scene and extending an existing clip.

This streamlined editing process will be powered by a new video model poised to join the Firefly models ensemble, including Image, Vector, Design, and Text Effects. Adobe continues in its trajectory towards further developing Firefly AI models in domains such as imaging, video, audio, and 3D where it boasts considerable expertise. These models are expected to be profoundly integrated across Creative Cloud and Adobe Express.

In an attempt to directly integrate third-party generative AI models into Adobe apps like Premiere Pro, Adobe has also presented its future vision. This evolution enhances Premiere Pro as an entirely flexible, extensible professional video tool meeting any workflow. Video editors could leverage video generation models from OpenAI and Runway, integrated into Premiere Pro, to generate B-roll for their projects in the future. Additionally, Pika Labs could aid the Generative Extend tool to add a few seconds to the end of a shot.

Adobe is delivering to its customers new generative AI capabilities powered by Adobe Firefly and a variety of third-party models. This means customers would have access to a range of new features without having to depart from their day-to-day workflows in Premiere Pro.

"Adobe is reimagining every step of video creation and production workflow to give creators new power and flexibility to realise their vision," said Ashley Still, Senior Vice President, Creative Product Group at Adobe. "By bringing generative AI innovations deep into core Premiere Pro workflows, we are solving real pain points that video editors experience every day, while giving them more space to focus on their craft."

In addition, Adobe announced the upcoming general availability of AI-powered audio workflows in Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro would showcase a technology preview of generative AI workflows later this year, fuelled by a new Firefly video model.

Adobes' experience with AI that spans decades reveals that AI-generated content is most beneficial when it becomes a natural part of an individual's daily routine. Therefore, Adobe is focused on ensuring the seamless integration of its own AI models and specialised ones within its applications. Adobe has a commitment towards responsible innovation, which is why they are also ensuring the integration of third-party models within its applications aligns with its safety standards.

Alongside the new generative AI video tools, Adobe will launch new audio workflows in Premiere Pro. These will enable editors to control and enhance their sound quality meticulously. Features include interactive fade handles, a new Essential Sound badge with audio category tagging, effect badges, and redesigned waveforms in the timeline.
