Dig This Deal's AI-powered platform is carving out a unique space in the online shopping world by addressing issues such as product visibility and the challenge of comparing new and used goods. With its growing product listings and emphasis on sustainable shopping, the platform offers shoppers an easy way to find better deals while supporting smaller retailers that may struggle to compete for top search placement. As the company expands through its crowdfunding campaign, it will be interesting to see how its focus on price comparison and product variety influences the broader e-commerce landscape.

Dig This Deal campaign raises GBP £255,000 to boost AI shopping
Tech entrepreneur Ashley Bailey has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the growth of Dig This Deal, an AI-powered online shopping assistant that helps users compare both new and pre-owned products.
Since going live in December 2024, Dig This Deal has reportedly expanded its product listings from 2 million in February to over 15 million presently, with an ambition to reach 150 million products by the end of the year.
The platform uses AI technology to compare prices across a wide range of items, including new, refurbished, and pre-loved goods, with a particular emphasis on sustainable shopping options.
According to Dig This Deal, its approach targets gaps in the current online retail model by providing visibility to retailers whose products might otherwise be overlooked if they don't pay for prominent search placement.
"I was searching for a specific item for our home and spent over four hours trying to track down the right make, model, and year," said founder Ashley Bailey, who has previously worked at Google USA and Telefónica/Wayra.
Bailey explained, "Unless an online retailer pays for top search placement, their products often go unseen. I also struggled to compare pre-loved with new options—that frustration sparked the idea for Dig This Deal."
The platform can be accessed via a web browser, without the need for downloads or browser extensions, and is designed to help shoppers find the lowest available prices, earn cashback on purchases, and choose between new, refurbished, and pre-owned products. It also aims to promote sustainable shopping by including pre-loved and refurbished items alongside new products.
On the platform's pricing goals, Bailey said, "Our goal is to offer shoppers up to 60% off retail prices once we hit our milestone of 150 million listed products."
To support further expansion, Dig This Deal has initiated a campaign on Crowdcube, inviting investors to participate in its growth. In the first three weeks, the campaign has reportedly secured over GBP £255,000 in pledges.
