Global AI Ethics Institute launches White Paper Prize

Fri, 25th Oct 2024

The Global AI Ethics Institute (GAIEI) has issued a call for submissions for its inaugural White Paper Prize, offering a USD $1,000 cash reward for excellence in AI ethics research.

Papers eligible for submission must have been published in 2024 in a recognized and accredited journal, newspaper, magazine, or book chapter. They must be wholly original works authored by researchers, scholars, or public professionals from across the globe.

The submission deadline has been set for the end of the calendar year 2024. The competition welcomes topics that tackle AI ethics from a global standpoint, including its impact on regions such as the global south, and far east, or any aspect of AI governance and its broader societal effects.

The winning entry will be announced in January through the GAIEI's publicist network. The paper will also be made publicly accessible on the GAIEI website, contingent on the author's consent and the original publication's permission.

Kevin LaGrandeur, Research Director of the GAIEI, emphasized the importance of the White Paper Prize in fostering continued dialogue and critical insights into AI ethics, especially considering the fast-paced evolution of AI technology.

"We are thrilled to announce the first Global AI Ethics Institute White Paper prize. The inaugural topic for submissions is 'AI, ethics and the future of work' with a global perspective," he explained.

"As leaders, companies, societies, and the world, we have to get this right. We look forward to sharing not just the winner, but the key insights we gather from thought leaders in this critical area," LaGrandeur added.

Submissions are encouraged from individuals who have made a significant contribution to the discourse around AI and ethics. Interested parties can email their white papers to the institute for consideration.
