Distology appoints Sarah Geary as new Chief Commercial Officer

Wed, 2nd Oct 2024

Sarah Geary has assumed the role of Chief Commercial Officer at Distology, following her transition from the position of Chief Marketing Officer.

This change forms part of the company's broader restructuring plans for the upcoming year.

Since joining Distology as CMO, Geary has successfully implemented an agency-style model within the marketing function. This approach, characterised by a stronger commercial focus, will continue to shape her responsibilities in the newly appointed role over the next 12 months.

Distology CEO, Hayley Roberts, elaborated on the restructuring efforts, emphasising the company's strategic priorities as it approaches the second half of the financial year. "This restructure is allowing us to build for success as we enter the very important H2, and our sales team will now focus on audience, which will allow us to be more aligned with our vendor and partner needs."

The restructure will also see Distology maintaining its differentiation through an end-user focus, along with the introduction of a Sales Development Representative as a Service (SDRaaS) offering. Roberts remarked, "The industry is ever changing and we need to remain agile and continue to evolve with it. We believe this format will bolster cross-functional working and be underpinned by our Vendor tiering and Specialism model. Culture is paramount for Distology and this new structure will encourage and demonstrate opportunity, allowing us to reward those that continue to aspire to grow."

Roberts underscored the company's commitment to internal promotion and the infusion of new perspectives through external hires. "We have always been passionate about promoting from within, and our re-structure will allow us to do this much more and inject new perspectives and experiences from external hires."

Geary expressed her enthusiasm and anticipation for her new role. "I couldn't be happier and more energised. Whilst there are of course some nerves, as I don't underestimate this challenge, I am so excited about the opportunity and eager to see what we can achieve as a team. Being able to promote internally has been a huge highlight and I feel very lucky to be surrounded by such brilliant people. Having the backing of Hayley and the wider ELT means everything, and I am ready to attack H2 with this renewed team focus."

Roberts added, "In a fast-growing business, getting the right Exec leadership team is really hard, especially because you have to legislate for and capitalise on all the business growth opportunities and potential. Working with the right Exec team should feel like a hot knife through butter. Sarah has already proven that she can create a happy and profitable team in Marketing and Alliances – which makes her an obvious choice for the CCO role."
