Wed, 3rd Jan 2024

Catriona Campbell, Chief Technology and Innovation Leader with EY UK & Ireland, has been awarded an MBE in the new year's honours list, a formal recognition for her services to technology and innovation.

Her contribution of over 20 years in the fields of technology design, research and development, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been acknowledged with this honour.

Partnering with EY since 2018, Campbell has been instrumental in championing the development of EY's AI services in the UK. Her work spans across public and private sectors, wherein she helps organisations capitalise on the power of technology.

Through her initiatives, she has fostered an environment that encourages the exploration of emerging technologies alongside clients, policymakers, and other industry leaders.

Campbell's technology expertise is rooted in her background in behavioural psychology and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). She is the founder of a London-based experience design firm that was acquired by EY in 2015 and subsequently rebranded as EY-Seren. This venture has been a crucial stepping stone in her illustrious career journey.

Adding to her portfolio of achievements is her book on Artificial Intelligence, titled "AI by Design." Furthermore, as the Chair of the Scottish AI Alliance, she holds a Ministerial appointment that backs the development and application of responsible AI in Scotland.

Her contribution to the sector didn't go unnoticed by the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA), which celebrated her efforts by inducting her into the BIMA Digital Hall of Fame.

Reflecting on the prestigious award of an MBE, Campbell shared her thoughts, "I've spent over 20 years working in the technology sector and have had the privilege of working with some fantastic colleagues, clients and their teams on the development and implementation of emerging technologies such as AI. To be awarded with an MBE in recognition of this work is a tremendous honour and one of the highlights of my career so far."

Signalling the importance of this honour, Hywel Ball, EY's UK Chair, said, "Catriona has been a driving force in the development of EY's technology services for clients, in areas such as AI, and has a wealth of experience in the sector. I am delighted that she has been recognised with this honour."

Enabled by data and technology, diverse EY teams in over 150 countries work to provide trust through assurance and help clients grow, transform and operate. Working across assurance, consulting, law, strategy, tax and transactions, EY teams are focused on asking better questions to find new answers for the complex issues facing our world today.
