Krotos Studio Pro update boosts sound design with instant tools

Thu, 21st Aug 2025

Krotos has introduced significant feature updates to Krotos Studio Pro that aim to accelerate workflows and provide instant sound creation tools for content creators and post-production professionals.

The latest version, designed for individuals working in film, post-production, game audio, and content creation, introduces several developments including instant ambience and background music rendering, drag-and-drop stem export, and an enhanced real-time waveform display. These improvements are intended to streamline the process of creating and managing sound without reducing creative control.

Stem export and faster mixing

Krotos Studio Pro now allows users to export individual ambience or music stems from their performances or renders. Users have the option to separate up to four stereo stems, such as isolating wind, traffic, or instrumental layers, offering greater flexibility during the mixing process. This capability is designed to eliminate the need for time-consuming multichannel routing or manual editing, reducing what could be several hours of work into a matter of minutes.

This update aims to address pain points for sound designers and video editors who often spend considerable time layering and editing ambient tracks. The instant ambience rendering feature enables users to generate complex atmospheric backgrounds, such as city scenes or forests, in seconds by setting the desired duration and automatically drawing from a library of professionally recorded elements.

Instant ambience and music rendering

The process of creating music cues is also made more efficient. The new background music rendering feature allows users to select instrumentation, character, and length, then generates a complete musical underscore or background bed without the need for manual performance or full recording workflows.

Krotos clarified that, unlike entirely generative artificial intelligence tools, Krotos Studio Pro relies on an AI-assisted engine utilising professionally recorded and licensed sounds. This is intended to complement the work of sound professionals by speeding up creative tasks while maintaining authorship and ensuring transparency of sound sources.

Ethical approach to AI

Emphasising its approach to ethical development and industry standards, Krotos states that its engine enhances human creativity rather than replacing it. The platform is developed for professionals needing to maintain creative momentum in the face of tight deadlines and avoids the repetitive tasks often found in sound design and editing.

The latest version, 2.5.0, also introduces a real-time waveform display. This new interface shows users the evolving shape and structure of their audio, assisting with mixing and editing decisions throughout the workflow and providing a visual reference for dynamic and balance adjustments.

"Creative ideas move fast, and we believe your tools should keep up," said Orfeas Boteas, CEO of Krotos. "With features like instant ambience and music rendering, stem export, and visual feedback, Krotos Studio Pro supports a faster, more fluid workflow - whether you're designing for film, games, or social media content. Our goal is to make high-quality sound design more accessible, reducing the path from your imagination to the final result, without sacrificing quality or control."

Feature overview

The most recent update to Krotos Studio Pro includes:

  • Drag-and-drop stem export, giving users the ability to export individual sound layers such as wind, traffic, or sirens from any performance or render, providing extra control in mixing environments.
  • Instant ambience rendering, enabling the creation of full-length atmospheric soundscapes without the need for real-time recording.
  • Instant music rendering, which generates music cues after specifying instrumentation, character, and length, bypassing the requirement for live performance or time-consuming studio sessions.
  • A visual waveform display that allows users to review and refine the dynamics, length, and balance of sounds in real time.

Those who currently use Krotos Studio Pro are able to access the new features within both the desktop application and the plugin version. A 7-day trial of the software is also being offered to new users.
