London-based data and AI consultancy, Mesh-AI has announced the appointment of two former Amazon Web Services (AWS) specialists as it continues to ramp up its expansion within the energy and utilities sectors. Jacob Parsons, previously Head of Enterprise Sales UK at AWS, will take up the role of Chief Revenue Officer, while James Houlton, former UK Head Strategy and Solutions for Energy & Utilities at AWS, will serve as Director of Energy & Utilities.

These strategic hires follow the recent recognition of Mesh-AI as AWS Sustainability Partner of the Year, a testament to its commitment to supporting customers to meet sustainability goals while driving forward innovation through data, AI and AWS solutions.

Parsons' role at AWS saw him accountable for multi-billion dollar revenue across diverse industry verticals. His proven expertise in developing high-performing sales teams and facilitating business expansion into new markets will now be directed towards enabling Mesh-AI's customers to maximise the potential of effective data and AI strategies.

In his words, "I'm looking forward to accelerating the data and AI transformation journeys of Mesh-AI customers, helping them to realise cost savings in the millions and unlock new revenue growth. This market has huge potential and I truly believe Mesh-AI is poised to capitalise on the opportunity for more enterprises across Financial Services and Energy & Utilities."

Houlton brings with him invaluable experience from AWS, where he spearheaded major enterprise transformation projects across the energy value chain, making significant progress towards energy transition in an industry in dire need of greater decarbonisation. Decarbonisation is a crucial component of sustainability, particularly within sectors that have significant environmental impact.

Gearing up for his new responsibilities, Houlton says, "The energy industry is at a crucial juncture - the opportunities to harness the power of data and AI to decarbonise the economy are endless. I'm excited to add my expertise to Mesh-AI's enterprise clients on their race to net zero, saving them millions in costs and improving their relationships with regulators."

The CEO of Mesh-AI, Michael Chalmers, expressed his enthusiasm about the new hires, saying, "We're thrilled to have Jacob and James join our team at what is a pivotal point. We're on a huge growth trajectory with massive ambitions for the future, these hires will be key to helping us achieve those. They bring a wealth of experience of enterprise transformation that fits in with our vision and will be instrumental in propelling our business forward."

This developing story traces back to 2023 when Mesh-AI secured the Partner of the Year award from AWS for its efforts in aiding customers attain their sustainability targets while simultaneously fuelling innovation through data, AI, and AWS solutions. With the addition of these experienced hires, it will be interesting to follow the trajectory of Mesh-AI's growth and influence in the desirable energy and utilities sector.
