Remote has introduced a new brand identity and repositioned itself around global workforce finance, reflecting its role in helping businesses hire and pay workers in more than 150 countries.

The rebrand comes as Remote reports processing billions in payroll each year and says its payroll business has grown 300% year on year. Customers on its platform include Anthropic, Box, GitLab, Lovable, Vercel, Miro, Datadog and Zapier.

Remote wants to present itself less as a point solution for international hiring and more as a central system for payroll, employment, and contractor management. It says demand is widening beyond technology businesses as more employers look for a single provider to manage cross-border workforce administration.

At the centre of the repositioning is the argument that companies want fewer disconnected tools and service providers when managing overseas workers. Remote says its system combines payroll, employment, and workforce data in a single record, while supporting different employment models, including employer of record, direct employment, and contractor management.

It also points to its owned legal entities for employer-of-record services and its in-house compliance, payroll, and human resources teams. Local legal, payroll and compliance specialists monitor regulatory changes in the countries where it operates, according to the company.

Another part of the message is aimed at product and engineering teams. Remote says companies can connect to the platform through an open API, MCP and CLI access, allowing customers and software agents to extend the service for their own workflows.

The redesign was developed with COLLINS, a creative agency known for branding work. Remote says the visual system draws on currencies from around the world, with a colour palette based on shades found in banknotes and a cube motif intended to represent infrastructure.

Shift in focus

The broader business case behind the move is that payroll has become more strategic for multinational employers. Managing pay, compliance and employment status across multiple jurisdictions has grown more complex as companies hire internationally and mix full-time employees with contractors and employer-of-record arrangements.

Remote is one of several companies trying to meet that shift by combining software with local legal and payroll operations. The market has attracted strong investor and customer interest as businesses look for ways to expand internationally without building a large administrative presence in each country.

By stressing accountability and direct infrastructure, Remote is also drawing a distinction between platforms that rely heavily on third-party partners and those that say they control more of the service stack themselves. The issue has become more prominent as corporate buyers scrutinise compliance risk, data accuracy and payroll reliability.

Campaign launch

Alongside the rebrand, Remote is rolling out a brand campaign called For a World That Works. The campaign focuses on the people involved in global work and how work functions when contributors are recognised and paid across borders.

Remote describes it as its biggest brand campaign to date, spanning digital and outdoor advertising in several cities including Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Madrid, New York, London, San Francisco and Paris. A hero film was produced with Stink Studios as part of the campaign.

The timing suggests Remote wants to use the rebrand not only to refresh its look but also to sharpen its position in a crowded market. Rivals in global payroll and employer-of-record services have been broadening their product sets, and vendors are increasingly competing on scale, compliance knowledge, integration options and customer support rather than on international hiring alone.

Job van der Voort, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Remote, set out the thinking behind the move.

"Our mission is distilled into three words: pay the world," he said. "A few months ago, we announced we were going all in on building the infrastructure to solve the really hard stuff: hiring and paying people compliantly, globally. Today, our brand matches the ambition and innovation of what we're building. We're super excited to share it with the world."
