Scrum.org launches self-paced advanced Scrum Master course

Fri, 5th Jun 2026 (Today)

Scrum.org has launched a self-paced Professional Scrum Master Advanced Fundamentals training course for both new and experienced Scrum Masters.

The online course has been added to the organisation's learning platform and includes one attempt at the Professional Scrum Master II certification test on completion.

The new offering focuses on the Scrum Master role beyond introductory material. Participants study the mix of skills and practices needed to support both Scrum teams and the wider organisation during product delivery.

Students work through real-world scenarios, case studies and interactive exercises based on situations Scrum Masters face in day-to-day work. The self-paced course also includes reading materials, videos, quizzes and decision-based activities.

The training is designed to help learners understand the role a Scrum Master plays across the product delivery process. It is also recommended for people preparing to take the Professional Scrum Master II certification test.

A bundled purchase option is also available. It pairs Professional Scrum Master Advanced Fundamentals with the Professional Scrum Fundamentals self-paced course and includes attempts at both the PSM I and PSM II certification tests.

The bundle is priced at USD $490 and is intended for learners who want foundational Scrum training before moving on to the advanced Scrum Master course.

The course aims to provide a more flexible learning option for professionals who prefer to study at their own pace while balancing work and other commitments. By focusing on practical application, the training helps Scrum Masters develop the confidence to address complex team and organisational challenges.

Scrum.org says the content reflects current industry practices and the evolving responsibilities of Scrum Masters in modern product development environments. Learners can revisit course materials as needed, allowing them to reinforce key concepts and deepen their understanding over time.

The launch expands Scrum.org's portfolio of online learning offerings and supports ongoing professional development within the Agile community.

Broader training push

The launch expands Scrum.org's portfolio of self-paced education products as organisations continue to formalise agile delivery methods and related certifications. The group was founded by Scrum co-creator Ken Schwaber and positions itself around training, certification and ongoing learning for practitioners at different stages of experience.

Its training model combines live instructor-led courses with online self-paced study. The organisation also runs certification programmes and community resources, including forums and blogs.

Dave West, Chief Executive Officer at Scrum.org, commented on the addition of the new course.

"We are very excited to announce our newest self-paced training course - Professional Scrum Master Advanced Fundamentals," said Dave West, Chief Executive Officer at Scrum.org.

He also described the range of demands placed on Scrum Masters and the reason for offering the material in a flexible format.

"There are many facets to being a Scrum Master, often facing the balance of leadership, enabling the Product Owner to maximize value, fostering continuous improvement and more. This course enables Scrum Masters to learn how to grow these skills and more at their own pace and at a time that suits them. We understand that people learn in many different ways and look forward to building out our online learning platform," said West.
