SimplyBook.me launches AI voice tool for bookings

SimplyBook.me has introduced an AI Voice Booking feature that lets customers make appointments by speaking in natural language on business websites and social channels.

The Cyprus-headquartered scheduling platform is targeting service businesses that rely on phone calls, messaging apps and social media for new bookings. The company said the tool converts spoken requests into confirmed appointments in real time.

Voice-driven booking

AI Voice Booking allows customers to speak or type phrases such as "Book a haircut on Friday at 3pm". The system interprets the request, checks up-to-date availability and then walks the user through confirmation as a separate step.

Businesses can offer the feature directly on their websites through a widget. They can also activate it within WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook messaging. Customers can start a booking by calling a dedicated WhatsApp number, which requires a Meta Business account.

The launch extends SimplyBook.me's existing online scheduling tools, which already support bookings across web, social and in-person channels. The company positions the new function as an additional entry point into the same booking workflows.

European AI context

The move comes as small and medium-sized firms across Europe weigh up investments in artificial intelligence. Research by parent group team.blue, based on responses from more than 8,200 businesses, found that use of AI is growing across the region. The survey also reported uneven adoption and cited trust, clarity and simplicity as key barriers.

SimplyBook.me said it is focusing on uses of AI that sit inside existing processes rather than replace them. It described the new tool as a way to reduce friction in booking journeys.

"AI adoption only works when it solves a real problem in a way businesses can trust," said Rut Steinsen, CEO of SimplyBook.me. "Voice-first booking removes friction at the moment a customer is ready to book. It's not about replacing channels, it's about helping businesses capture demand they would otherwise miss."

Privacy and compliance

The company said the feature follows a privacy-first design that aligns with data protection rules in Europe. Voice input is processed and converted to text to complete bookings. The system does not store or record voice data.

SimplyBook.me stated that this approach supports GDPR compliance. It said that businesses keep control of booking data inside the existing scheduling environment, rather than within separate AI systems.

24/7 receptionist role

SimplyBook.me is targeting sectors where missed calls and unanswered online enquiries are common. Examples include hair and beauty salons, health and wellness providers, professional services and local trades.

The company said AI Voice Booking functions as a digital receptionist that operates at all hours. It converts website visits and social media interactions into confirmed appointments at times when staff are busy or the business is closed.

In the UK market, SimplyBook.me sees particular demand among smaller firms that still rely heavily on the phone. The company pointed to pressure on owner-operators who manage both service delivery and booking administration during the working day.

Integration with existing tools

AI Voice Booking links into SimplyBook.me's scheduling rules, service catalogues, staff calendars and payment flows. The feature applies the same availability logic and service definitions that businesses already use in the platform.

Businesses can add the function by inserting a widget into their website or connecting it to existing social media channels. The company said this keeps configuration steps short for existing users.

The tool sits within SimplyBook.me's broader scheduling suite. That suite covers online bookings, payments and customer interactions for service businesses of different sizes.

AI Voice Booking is available immediately for SimplyBook.me customers in all markets, with the UK identified as one of the company's priority countries for rollout and uptake.
