Sphera has promoted Megan Geldman to Chief Marketing Officer. She previously served as vice president of marketing at the software company.

Based at Sphera's Chicago headquarters, Geldman will lead global marketing, brand and communications and work closely with Chief Executive Officer Paul Marushka. Her appointment comes as the company expands its operational intelligence platform and steps up its focus on artificial intelligence across risk, safety and sustainability.

Before joining Sphera, Geldman held senior marketing roles at Itiviti and Performance Trust Capital Partners. She also served on the board of directors at Street-Level Youth Media and earlier worked as director of marketing and advertising at Sereno Group.

The promotion puts an internal executive in charge of presenting Sphera's products and strategy to customers in international markets. The company serves 8,500 customers and more than one million users in 100 countries.

Sphera describes its business as bringing risk, safety and sustainability information together in a single operational intelligence platform. Its products cover environmental, health and safety, sustainability, product stewardship, process safety and supply chains.

Geldman's promotion comes as software companies sharpen their messaging around artificial intelligence while tying those tools to practical uses in compliance, operations and corporate reporting. For companies selling into regulated industries, marketing leaders are increasingly expected to turn technical product development into clear business cases for buyers.

At Sphera, that includes explaining how AI tools fit into existing processes for managing workplace safety, environmental obligations and supply-chain risks. Geldman is expected to help shape that message as organisations face more complex operating conditions.

She holds a BA in Fine Art & Mathematics from the University of Puget Sound. Her background combines experience in financial and trading technology with marketing work in software linked to risk management.

She takes on the role as competition among software providers intensifies around AI positioning. Many vendors have added AI language to product descriptions, but buyers remain focused on evidence that those tools improve decision-making, reporting and response times.

That has increased the importance of senior marketing appointments, particularly at companies trying to stand out in crowded software categories. Internal promotions can also signal strategic continuity, especially when the executive has already helped shape the company's message.

Geldman outlined her view of the market in a statement accompanying the announcement.

"Organisations today need more than visibility into risk. They need intelligent, connected insights that help them act faster and with greater confidence," said Megan Geldman,Chief Marketing Officer at Sphera.

She added: "Sphera's continued investment in AI innovation, product development and customer value is creating a significant opportunity to help organizations navigate increasingly complex challenges across risk, safety and sustainability. I'm excited to help elevate the solutions, expertise and customer impact that continue to drive Sphera's growth around the world."

Marushka said Geldman had already shaped the company's external message before taking the top marketing role.

"Megan has played a critical role in strengthening Sphera's brand and sharpening how we communicate our value to customers globally," said Paul Marushka, chief executive officer and president of Sphera.

He added: "Her strategic mindset, creativity and deep understanding of our business make her the ideal leader to guide Sphera's global marketing organization as we continue accelerating growth and expanding how organizations use AI-powered operational intelligence to manage risk, safety and sustainability."
