Zühlke appoints Angela Bishop as new UK CEO
International engineering and tech consultancy Zühlke has appointed Angela Bishop as its new UK CEO. Bishop, who originally joined Zühlke in January 2023 as UK MD for Zühlke's industry sector practices, has a background in the tech industry, notably as UK Private Sector Portfolio Director at Thoughtworks. Her tenure at Thoughtworks included overseeing services to all business clients, a role she undertook since joining the team in 2006.
Commenting on the new role, Angela Bishop voiced her commitment to furthering Zühlke UK's growth trajectory. "Zühlke has been growing rapidly in the UK in recent years through our emphasis on delivering innovation to the very highest standards of quality and reliability," she said. "I will be particularly focusing on continuing this growth in financial services, healthcare, public sector, energy and retail."
Zühlke brings considerable expertise to regulated sectors like financial services and healthcare owing to its Swiss heritage. This specific capability has made Zühlke stand out in the UK. It is among a few selected companies capable of delivering certified software as a medical device, a crucial sector innovation needed to address today's healthcare challenges.
As UK CEO, Angela aims to advance diversity in the tech industry, particularly increasing female representation in senior positions. As an initiative towards this goal, Angela, along with Linda Scott, has established a networking group titled 'Women Who Impact'. The group provides a platform for successful women to share experiences, inspire each other and enrich their respective professional journeys.
Angela's predecessor Wolfgang Emmerich, who served Zühlke as UK CEO from 2009 to 2024, will chair the UK Board of Zühlke. Emmerich, one of Zühlke Group's co-founders in 2000, will also stand for election to the Board of the parent Zühlke Technology Group at their next AGM.
Angela's appointment bolsters the rise in female representation in senior leadership positions at Zühlke UK. The team comprises of Angela Bishop, Melanie Marchant (Head of Business Consulting for UK), Isobel Pearce (Head of UK Marketing), Heather Savory (Non-Executive Director), Linda Scott (Business Development for Scotland), and Sandra Blake (Global HR Director).
Founded in 2000, Zühlke UK is a part of a global team of nearly 2,000 colleagues, boasting headquarters in Switzerland and multiple branches across Europe and Asia.
