Akeneo has launched a summer product release that adds an agentic user interface, Agentic Ziggy, to its Product Cloud. The update is designed to let product data teams manage groups of AI agents inside the platform.
The new layer allows users to oversee agents that enrich, govern and orchestrate product data across the product information lifecycle. It is aimed at teams handling large catalogues and multiple sales channels, including merchandisers, syndication managers and catalogue teams.
Agentic Ziggy sits within Akeneo Product Cloud as an orchestration layer for specialised AI agents. Those agents are designed for tasks including data modelling, schema mapping, data enrichment and data quality checks, while keeping human approval controls over decisions and workflows.
Akeneo is targeting the release at companies facing rising product data complexity as digital commerce shifts towards AI-led discovery. As browsing and search tools evolve, the quality and structure of product information become more important for visibility across retail and marketplace channels, it argues.
New tools
The release includes an AI-native workspace that lets users trigger workflows through natural language prompts. This is intended to help teams move from identifying product data issues to taking action without manual configuration.
It also adds syndication troubleshooting tools that translate retailer error messages into guidance users can act on directly, allowing teams to resolve issues themselves rather than pass them to technical staff.
Another feature brings prompt-based image editing to Akeneo DAM, the company's digital asset management tool. Teams can use text commands to alter product visuals, including colour variants, background changes and campaign adaptations, within existing workflows.
The release includes role-based permissions, approval mechanisms and visibility into agent actions. Akeneo describes this as a propose-and-approve model designed to keep human users in control of product data and business decisions.
Customer view
One early user cited by Akeneo said the software had already improved day-to-day product data work.
"Agentic Ziggy has been extremely helpful in making enrichment status and product information easier to understand and act on. It helps us move beyond completeness alone by surfacing section-level readiness, finding the right information much faster than manual filtering and supporting complex updates that would otherwise require several rounds of extraction, review and upload preparation. As these capabilities become more action-oriented, clear previews and explicit confirmation steps will be key to building trust," said Tiaan Heystek, Product Data Strategy Manager at Elemis.
PXM systems have long helped organisations centralise and govern product information.
Akeneo framed the release as a response to growing pressure on product data teams as catalogues become larger and more complex. The aim is to reduce repetitive operational work and free staff to focus on strategy and product experience decisions.
Romain Fouache, Chief Executive Officer of Akeneo, said the company sees the shift as part of a wider change in commerce operations. "Product data teams have spent years keeping pace with growing catalogue complexity. As AI accelerates the speed and scale of commerce, that challenge only intensifies," he said. "Agentic Ziggy combines 15 years of product data expertise with AI-assisted execution to help organisations scale product operations, respond faster to change, and unlock greater business value from their product data, all while maintaining the governance and trust enterprises expect."
Wider strategy
The launch marks the first phase of a broader investment programme in what Akeneo calls agentic product operations. The current release focuses on practical workflow tools while laying the groundwork for further development of AI-assisted product data operations.
That broader plan centres on linking trusted product data, automated workflows and governance controls in one platform. The objective is to shift Product Cloud from primarily storing and managing information to also coordinating actions across teams and processes.
Andy Tyra, Chief Product Officer at Akeneo, said continuous updates to product data will become more important as commerce channels and discovery methods change. "To keep pace with new patterns of discovery, more channels, and faster generational cycles, product data needs to be more dynamic and responsive," he said. "The organisations that succeed will be those that can continuously improve product experiences instead of periodically fixing them. Agentic Ziggy helps teams operationalise product intelligence and create ongoing improvement cycles that keep catalogues healthy, discoverable and competitive while allowing employees to focus on the strategic initiatives that drive business growth."
