BigAds gets $140,000 boost from Avalanche for blockchain ads

BigAds has announced a partnership with Avalanche, with the blockchain platform committing funds and future grants to support BigAds' decentralised in-game advertising network.

Funding and goals

Avalanche has invested $40,000 in BigAds to facilitate the onboarding of new game publishers, enhance integrations, and grow distribution across additional gaming titles. In addition to this upfront investment, Avalanche has committed to a $100,000 grant, to be disbursed once BigAds surpasses the milestone of six million monthly on-chain transactions. The funding is intended to bolster BigAds' infrastructure and drive wider adoption among developers and players active on the Avalanche ecosystem.

BigAds uses Avalanche's blockchain to execute a high volume of advertising microtransactions within games. According to the companies, this approach is designed to increase the transparency and fairness of in-game advertising, shifting away from traditional advertising models that have been criticised for being intrusive and opaque with minimal benefit to players.

A new model

BigAds' solution incorporates artificial intelligence and a Human-Interest Graph to improve ad relevance in games while ensuring that both players and developers receive fair rewards. By leveraging Avalanche's blockchain performance-high speed, scalability, and low transaction fees-the ambition is to process millions of ad microtransactions efficiently within the gaming environment.

Industry implications

According to both companies, the partnership will directly result in the creation of several jobs in the coming year, including development, AI, data science, and business integration roles. There are also expectations that game publishers utilising BigAds will be able to explore new monetisation models, potentially generating additional indirect employment and contributing to further innovation in the Web3 gaming space.

BigAds is currently the first decentralised ad network for games to launch on Avalanche, distinguishing itself from previous initiatives that have experimented with tokenised ad models. The integration of AI-driven targeting, a Human-Interest Graph, and Avalanche's blockchain infrastructure forms the basis of what is described as the first system to manage millions of on-chain ad microtransactions for games.

Growth metrics

BigAds reports that it is presently powering over three million monthly transactions across six integrated games, with a reach totalling ten million downloads and one million active players globally. The partnership with Avalanche is expected to help increase these figures by supporting both technical scale and market reach.

Avalanche states that its blockchain is structured to handle high throughput for decentralised applications, with a consensus mechanism designed for rapid transaction finality. This, combined with BigAds' technology, is being positioned by both companies as a potential step forward for the role of blockchain in digital advertising ecosystems, particularly within the gaming sector.
