Midnite has launched Pay by Bank in the UK through TrueLayer, adding instant bank deposits and withdrawals to its betting platform.

The rollout lets Midnite users move money directly between their bank accounts and the operator without entering card details. Users authenticate payments with their bank, including through biometric checks, and receive real-time confirmation through a mobile app flow.

Founded in 2018, Midnite runs a proprietary mobile-first platform spanning sports betting and iGaming. Payments are a key part of how users assess betting operators, particularly when depositing funds and cashing out winnings.

TrueLayer provides bank payment services across 22 countries and says more than 20 million users rely on its network to process transactions. In the UK and Europe, it says its user network has reached 27 million, contributing to early usage of the Midnite integration.

Midnite said early performance after launch had been strong, although neither company disclosed transaction volumes or adoption figures. Both companies positioned the launch as a way to reduce friction in mobile payment journeys, where app-based authentication removes the need for manual card entry.

Payments focus

The addition reflects a wider push by betting operators to offer alternatives to card payments and traditional withdrawal processes. Speed of payout has become a competitive issue in online gambling, where delays in receiving funds can affect customer retention and satisfaction.

For operators, account-to-account payments can also provide greater certainty that a transaction has been authorised by the customer's bank. In regulated sectors such as gambling, payment checks and identity verification are closely tied to compliance and fraud controls.

Midnite has raised more than USD $35 million in investment and describes itself as one of the faster-growing operators in the UK market. It offers sports betting, esports wagering and casino gaming under a UK Gambling Commission licence.

Lead Product Manager Christian Huynh outlined the company's position on the launch.

"At Midnite, we want the experience to rival the best consumer apps, and payments are no exception. Players expect money in and out to be instant and secure. TrueLayer's Pay by Bank gives us the infrastructure to deliver that. The early results speak for themselves.

"We remain committed to providing a user experience that is unrivalled across the market, and we look forward to offering TrueLayer's fast and reliable Pay by Bank option to our players," said Christian Huynh, Lead Product Manager at Midnite.

Sector demand

TrueLayer has sought to expand its position in sectors where payment speed and transaction certainty matter to both businesses and users. Gambling is one of those areas because deposits and withdrawals happen frequently, and customers tend to expect immediate confirmation.

Vice President of iGaming Roberto Villani said the sector puts payment systems under pressure.

"iGaming is where payments get stress-tested. Players want money in and out in seconds, and operators need certainty on every transaction. That is what Pay by Bank was built to do. Midnite has built a modern platform for a new generation of players, and now its payments match it. Strong performance from day one tells you where this partnership is going," said Roberto Villani, Vice President of iGaming at TrueLayer.

The UK market has become an important test case for account-to-account payment methods because of high smartphone usage, open banking adoption and strong competition among digital consumer services. Betting operators have also been looking for payment options that suit mobile-first products and reduce checkout abandonment.

For Midnite, the launch adds another payment option alongside existing methods as it builds out its proposition in a crowded market. For TrueLayer, the deal adds another gambling operator in a sector where instant payments and instant payouts are increasingly seen as a core part of the customer offer.

Midnite said users can now deposit and withdraw instantly from their bank accounts in a few taps through the new service.
