Roomex has appointed Fritz Oberhummer Vice President, Product Management at Corpay Lodging, adding a senior travel technology executive to the workforce travel platform's leadership group.

Oberhummer will report to Chris Kramer, Chief Product Officer at Corpay Lodging, and join Roomex President Keith Watson's extended leadership team. He will help shape the platform's product strategy as the business invests further in the technology behind its workforce travel offering.

He brings more than 15 years of experience in travel technology, product leadership, commercial strategy and platform transformation. Most recently, he led strategic solution architecture for Sabre across EMEA, focusing on airline and lodging distribution, as well as AI and agentic technologies.

Before Sabre, Oberhummer held senior product and commercial roles at Intellias, HRS and Expedia Group. That background gives Roomex experience from major travel and technology businesses at a time when travel management companies are reassessing how AI and data tools fit into booking, servicing and spend management.

Roomex operates in workforce travel, a segment focused on accommodation and transport for employees in mobile or field-based roles. Its product development is centred on those customers' needs, using AI, data and direct user feedback.

That focus reflects a broader shift in business travel technology, as providers tailor booking and management tools to more specific use cases rather than relying on broad corporate travel systems. For workforce travel platforms, that often means managing accommodation, cost control and visibility over travel spending for dispersed teams.

Roomex said Oberhummer's experience in workforce travel will support the development of more tailored technology as travel and accommodation requirements continue to change. The hire is part of a broader push to refine the platform rather than a standalone executive appointment.

Corpay Lodging, which owns Roomex, describes itself as a corporate travel management platform. Founded in Dublin, Roomex now operates globally as part of Corpay, with a particular focus on the UK workforce travel market.

The platform is free to use and centres on accommodation booking, expenses and reporting for employers managing travelling staff. It offers a large selection of hotels suited to workforce travel and tools designed to give businesses greater control over spending.

Roomex says clients lower accommodation costs by an average of 18% annually through the platform. It combines hotel booking, expense management and reporting in one system, alongside travel features such as train booking and payment products designed to reduce the need for employees to use personal cards.

Product focus

The hire comes as product teams across travel technology face pressure to show how AI can improve operational workflows rather than simply add new consumer-style features. In workforce travel, those demands are typically tied to practical issues such as policy compliance, payment handling, booking efficiency and visibility into spending patterns.

Oberhummer outlined that view in his first remarks after taking the role.

"Travel technology is moving fast, particularly as AI creates new opportunities to make platforms more intelligent and responsive to the people using them. I want to apply that thinking to workforce travel, where customers have very specific operational needs that aren't typically well served by broader travel technology. I'm looking forward to working with Chris, Keith and the wider team to build on what Corpay Lodging and Roomex already does well, while using data, technology and direct customer feedback to shape where the product goes next," said Oberhummer, Vice President, Product Management, Corpay Lodging.

Watson linked the appointment to the company's broader technology agenda and the customer demands it sees in workforce travel.

"Fritz's experience across the biggest technology and travel businesses shows he understands the opportunities emerging from AI and the practical challenges customers need technology to solve. This appointment shows Roomex is continuing to invest in technology built around the realities of workforce travel, and Fritz will play a central role in shaping that product strategy and making sure we stay ahead of what our customers need," said Watson.
