Wemtech names revenue & marketing chiefs in growth push

Wemtech has appointed Daniel Watson-Jones as Chief Revenue Officer and Helen Prothero as Marketing Director as the IT services company expands following backing from Peach PE.
Watson-Jones brings two decades of experience in the technology sector, with previous roles at OCSL, CANCOM and Telefónica Tech. Most recently, he was Head of Enterprise Sales at a business that grew from about 50 employees to roughly 1,000 in the UK.
At Wemtech, he will lead business growth and customer relationships. He will also serve as Chief Revenue Officer at Peach PE, supporting commercial strategy across the private equity firm's portfolio companies.
The move reunites him with Peach PE founders Iain Maclean and Tim Thrower, with whom he worked earlier in his career at OCSL. Peach PE is backing Wemtech's latest phase of growth.
Prothero joins as Marketing Director, bringing experience with global companies and businesses in expansion mode. She will work with Watson-Jones and the wider leadership team to develop Wemtech's brand and market presence.
Founded in 2013, Wemtech describes itself as an engineer-led IT business. It provides outsourced IT services and project support, and works with in-house IT teams across day-to-day support, cloud and infrastructure, cybersecurity and communications.
The business has built its reputation in managed IT, cloud and cybersecurity, and also works in AI, automation and technology optimisation. The senior hires point to a focus on broadening its customer base while strengthening commercial and marketing functions.
Watson-Jones said Wemtech had already earned customer trust and developed a distinct way of working.
"Wemtech already has what many IT providers spend years trying to build: a talented team of engineers that customers trust and a reputation for being easy to deal with. I'm excited about bringing that expertise to more organisations and supporting growth across the wider group, while keeping what makes Wemtech different: personal relationships, quick decisions and a genuine commitment to customers," said Daniel Watson-Jones, Chief Revenue Officer, Wemtech.
Growth plans
Maclean said the appointments would support both organic growth and acquisition activity, and form part of efforts to build out the group's senior team following Peach PE's investment.
"We're delighted to welcome Daniel and Helen to the team. Daniel brings extensive commercial experience and strong industry relationships, which will be invaluable as we grow Wemtech's services and customer base. He will also play an important role in supporting future acquisitions and bringing businesses together. With Helen strengthening our marketing capabilities, we're building a strong team for the next stage of growth," said Iain Maclean, Managing Partner, Peach PE.
Peach PE is an independent private equity firm founded by Maclean and Thrower. Although it invests across a range of sectors, both founders have spent much of their careers in IT and technology, giving the investment in Wemtech a degree of sector familiarity.
For Wemtech, the appointments add senior leadership in revenue and marketing at a time when competition among IT service providers remains intense. Its model includes fully outsourced IT support as well as targeted project work, placing it in a market where providers are trying to deepen customer relationships and win a larger share of technology spending.
Watson-Jones' dual role at Wemtech and Peach PE also points to a closer link between the operating business and its investor, particularly as the firm pursues growth across the broader portfolio. Maclean said he would play "an important role in supporting future acquisitions and bringing businesses together."
