SAP Concur has introduced new artificial intelligence tools and travel management features for its travel and expense platform, including new functions developed with Amex GBT.

The additions cover booking, approvals, meeting planning, expense oversight and disruption handling. Several features are entering early adopter programmes, while others are moving towards broader release. The changes are aimed at travel managers, finance teams, delegates and business travellers using SAP Concur's integrated travel and expense products.

One of the main launches is an AI-assisted delegates dashboard that brings approval requests, travel bookings and expense reports into a single workspace. Delegates who manage travel for other employees can use it to handle multiple traveller profiles in one place, with the system highlighting priorities and suggesting next steps.

SAP Concur said the dashboard could reduce the time delegates spend resolving issues by up to 25%. The feature is available to early adopter customers.

Meetings focus

SAP Concur has also expanded its meeting planning software with a Meeting Planning Agent linked to SAP's AI assistant, Joule. Users can ask for recommendations for meetings of different sizes based on organisational requirements, while the system flags major events in a chosen location that could raise prices or limit availability.

The tool also brings Groupize hotel room block proposals into SAP Concur's software, removing the need to track group accommodation in a separate system. This gives organisers a clearer view of meeting-related travel spend within the same workflow used for other travel and expense tasks.

SAP Concur also outlined other AI-led changes for approvers and administrators. An AI-assisted approval manager is designed to flag higher-risk expense submissions and present spending trends, approval history and AI-generated risk insights in one view.

For travel managers and administrators, SAP Concur is adding benchmarking and policy configuration tools to compare programme performance with similar organisations and identify gaps between policy documents and system settings. It is also preparing an AI-assisted corporate card management feature that would let administrators generate virtual card programmes from policy documents and create approval rules using natural language prompts.

Alliance changes

The latest product updates also extend the strategic alliance between SAP Concur and Amex GBT. The companies have added leakage reporting to the travel manager homepage by combining data from Concur Travel and Amex GBT, including offline bookings.

The reporting is intended to show travel managers where bookings are happening outside managed travel channels, with breakdowns by line of business, travel category, vendor and traveller. Unmanaged travel spend has long been an issue for corporate travel teams because it can weaken policy compliance and make it harder for companies to track employees during disruptions.

Another change is a centralised disruption management function within Complete by SAP Concur and Amex GBT. Travellers can receive real-time notifications, adjust trips themselves and access live support through a single in-app experience.

SAP Concur and Amex GBT are also adding perks at the point of sale, including supplier offers, loyalty benefits, special travel management company content and corporate contract benefits. This information will appear during the booking process, so travellers do not have to compare separate sites manually.

Market position

The announcement comes as software providers across corporate travel and finance push to show practical uses for AI in routine administrative work. SAP Concur has been embedding AI features into its products for several years and cited IDC research ranking SAP first in worldwide travel and expense management software by market share in 2025, at 48.1%.

Paul Dear, Regional Vice President - Supplier Services EMEA, SAP Concur, said the latest additions are intended to bring planning, spending, approvals, compliance and traveller support into a more unified process.

Several of the new products remain in phased release. Leakage reporting on the travel manager homepage and the disruption management feature are already available to early adopters, while the delegates dashboard and approval manager are also in early adopter access. Other functions, including meeting planning enhancements, perks benefits and broader administrative tools, are scheduled for later release.

The broader direction across the sector is clear: companies want tighter oversight of employee travel costs while reducing manual administration for finance and travel teams. For SAP Concur, the latest launches focus on bringing more of those tasks into a single system that uses AI to prompt action, identify exceptions and expose spending outside approved channels.

"These announcements represent an important milestone in the SAP Concur vision for autonomous, intelligent travel and expense management, where routine work is automated, decisions are supported by data-driven insights, and organizations gain greater visibility and control over every dollar spent and every trip taken," said Dear.
