Topol.io spins out from Ecomail to offer standalone email editor

Thu, 4th Sep 2025

Topol.io has officially separated from Ecomail to form an independent company focused on providing its embeddable email editor for developers and marketers.

Previously operating as a product within Ecomail, an established email marketing platform in Central Europe, Topol.io will now operate as a standalone company and assume responsibility for all customer contracts, development, and support related to its product range. This will allow the email editor to define its own brand and development trajectory.

The company, now known as Topol.io, began as a feature of the Ecomail platform but expanded its reach in 2017 when it launched a standalone application and plugin. According to Topol.io, the product now supports over 12,000 customers, with nearly 200 software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms embedding its plugin.

Responsibility for oversight transitioned to Topol.io on 1 August 2025, marking a significant milestone for the business as it works toward a developer-focused strategy and independent brand identity.

Focus on developer integration

The Topol app is - and always will be - optimized for business professionals that want to quickly build responsive email templates. But, after seeing how much dev teams value our embeddable plugin, we've decided to concentrate even more effort on meeting their needs

said Jakub Gause, Head of Development at Topol.io.

Developers integrating the Topol editor can embed it in SaaS platforms such as customer relationship management (CRM) and booking software using minimal code. The plugin allows users to design emails visually, rather than relying only on manual HTML or code-based email creation, and supports other marketing users through a straightforward interface compatible with multiple email service providers.

The editor's functionality includes features for advanced email layout management, such as row-level looping, merge tags, control over which content appears on mobile or desktop, multi-language support, and clean HTML export for interoperability with various other tools.

Topol.io distinguishes itself within the email editor market by opting for a predictable, per-seat pricing model. This differs from usage-based schemes and is designed to appeal to businesses looking for cost predictability, including startups and organisations scaling their email communication operations.

Expansion plans

Plans are in place for Topol.io to offer additional embeddable modules beyond its email editor. According to company information, a landing page builder is currently in development, and other upcoming features could include transactional email orchestration, media asset management, and fully AI-powered email generation. These moves are part of a wider strategy to address broader communication and design requirements within digital marketing.

The formation of Topol.io as a separate entity follows broader changes at Ecomail, where other R&D projects are maturing into potential spinouts in their own right. Products like DmarcEye, which provides domain authentication monitoring, and Pixla, a browser-based image editor, are progressing towards their own legal independence as standalone businesses.

The Topol spinout is just the beginning. As we continue to develop the Ecomail platform, we'll be spinning out more lightweight, embeddable tools that give teams the freedom to build the email stack they need, without vendor lock-in or bloated complexity.

said Jakub Stupka, Co-Founder of Ecomail and Topol.io.

The collective aim is to form a modular ecosystem targeted at developers and business professionals in the email, security, and design sectors. This approach would facilitate the creation of tailored technology stacks, allowing companies to adopt only the modules suited to their workflow.

Topol.io is headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, and its technology is used by a range of organisations, including BBC, Deloitte, and Intercom. The company continues to focus on the requirements of both marketing professionals and developers as it pursues its new direction separate from Ecomail.
